Welcome to the Derby Activity Social and Hiking Group (DASH Group)

DASH Group is open to people of all ages who enjoy walking, social and adventurous activities.

We meet alternate Tuesdays at 8pm in the Brunswick Inn, Station Approach, Derby. The meetings, or Club Nights, are both social events and opportunities to discuss forthcoming activities.

Details of walks and other events are normally given out at the Club Night prior to the event or see Events for a list of forthcoming events and this page for imminent events.

Weekends away are generally booked two or three months prior to the event (longer for Bank Holiday weekends) and generally require a deposit.

You no longer need to become a member of the Youth Hostel Association (YHA) to stay in youth hostels on DASH Group trips as we have a group membership.

How to Get There
From Derby A52 to Ashbourne then A52/A523 towards Leek. Approx. 5 miles after joining the A523 (past Waterhouses) turn right onto Bentygrange Lane and follow up to T-junction (just past farm). Turn right and then left at next junction. Follow this road for about 2 miles.  At junction with main road turn right into Grindon village. Turn left up towards church & car park. If car park is full find parking in village. (Grid Ref: SK 086544 – Post Code ST13 7TP)
From Derby take A52 out towards Nottingham. Come off at junction signpost to Ockbrook and turn left onto Victoria Avenue and go into village. Turn right onto Collier Lane and follow to the end. Turn left onto Church Street. Church on right. Roadside parking by church. (Grid Ref: SK 423357 – Post Code DE72 3RB)
A52 from Derby to Ashbourne. Continue on A52 towards Stokeon- Trent. Froghall is off the A52 approx. 11 miles from Ashbourne. As you descend the hill into Froghall turn right onto minor road (Froghall Wharf is signed with a brown tourist sign). Park in the right hand free car par. Toilet facilities available. (Grid Ref: SK 026477 – Post Code ST10 2HJ). Driving distance from Derby: 25 miles – allow 45 mins.
